Who are we?
The Rice Medical Humanities Review is an online-only journal that publishes prose, poetry, and artwork at the intersections of science, medicine, and humanities. We welcome submissions from scholars and students exploring the medical humanities, and we aim to bring knowledge of the medical humanities into the public spotlight. We are proudly affiliated with the Medical Humanities Research Institute at Rice University.
Why medical humanities?
Medical Humanities is an interdisciplinary field, incorporating history, religion, media studies, anthropology, and literary studies, among other disciplines. Formal training, literature, and artwork in the medical humanities seek to fill in the gaps missing from conventional medical education, helping current and future healthcare providers build greater interpersonal and cultural appreciation for varyious perspectives and experiences in medicine.
